A simple order of play for flying out of Lagos.
The night before
- Check in online if your airline allows it
- Charge your phone and power bank
- Weigh your bags and check your documents
- Plan your route to the airport. Lagos traffic does not care about your flight time
Getting there
- Aim to arrive at least four hours before an international flight
- Only travellers should come to the terminal where possible, as space is limited
- Have your passport and boarding pass ready at the entrance gates
Security
- Liquids, gels and creams in hand luggage: 100ml or under each
- Power banks go in your carry-on
- Bags are scanned, so keep electronics easy to take out
- Check what food items your destination allows before you pack local food
Immigration and boarding
- Keep your visa, return ticket and hotel booking handy
- Know your gate and boarding time. Gates can change
- Use the toilet and fill your water bottle before you board
On landing
- Check your bag tag at the carousel
- Have your accommodation address ready for immigration
- Some European countries now register visitors with a photo and fingerprints, so allow extra time
